Overview

This policy explains what information may be collected when you use milansmission.com, contact Milan's Mission, or make a donation through a service linked from this site. Milan's Mission operates this website using Shopify and uses other service providers, including Donorbox, to support donations and site operations.

Information collected

Depending on how you use the site, the following information may be collected:

• Information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, organization, and message.
• Donation and transaction information, such as your name, contact details, donation amount, date, designation shown on the donation form, and whether a gift is one-time or recurring.
• Technical and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, cookie identifiers, pages viewed, referring page, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
• Communications and preferences, such as requests for updates or a request to stop receiving messages.

Donations are processed by Donorbox and its payment providers. Those providers collect payment information under their own terms and privacy policies. Milan's Mission generally does not receive your complete payment-card number, but it may receive donor and transaction details needed to acknowledge and administer a gift.

How information is used

Information may be used to:

• Respond to messages and requests.
• Process, acknowledge, and administer donations, including recurring gifts.
• Maintain and secure the website, prevent misuse, and troubleshoot problems.
• Understand general site use and improve content and accessibility.
• Send updates when you ask to receive them, and honor opt-out requests.
• Meet recordkeeping, accounting, safety, or other legal obligations.

Resource-page privacy and safety

The Get Help and Resources page is designed to provide information without asking visitors to identify themselves. It includes a Quick Exit feature, but no website feature can erase every trace of a visit.

The Resources page still runs on Shopify and may load Shopify cookies, security tools, and analytics or marketing technology enabled for the storefront. It should not be considered tracking-free or a confidential service. For greater privacy, consider using a private browser window, reviewing browser history and downloads, and using a device that another person cannot access. If doing so could increase your risk, use the option that is safest for you.

Shopify and other enabled service providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, or similar technology to keep the site working, protect it, measure use, and support configured analytics or marketing features. These providers process information under their own terms or on Milan's Mission's behalf.

Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid legal request, protect someone's safety, investigate misuse, or protect the rights and security of Milan's Mission and others. Milan's Mission does not publish identifying information about survivors without permission.

Links to other services

This site links to hotlines, service organizations, Donorbox, Milan Candles, and other websites that Milan's Mission does not control. Their privacy practices apply when you use their sites or services. Review their policies before providing personal information.

Retention and security

Milan's Mission may keep information as needed for the purposes described above, including donation administration, accounting, safety, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Different records may be kept for different periods.

Shopify, Donorbox, and other providers maintain their own security measures, but no website, email, form, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Do not send highly sensitive information through this site.

Children

Public safety resources may be useful to people of different ages, but the site's contact and donation features are not intended to solicit personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact us so the request can be reviewed.

Your choices and requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask about, access, correct, delete, or limit the use of personal information. You may also opt out of non-essential communications at any time by using the unsubscribe instructions in a message or contacting us. Milan's Mission may need to verify a request and may retain information when required or permitted by law.
