Our story

A mission with a name, and a reason.

Milan's Mission came before the product. The brand exists to fund the fight.

Why we exist

The mission came first.

Milan's Mission was not an afterthought to a brand. It is the reason the brand exists. The goal was always to fight sex trafficking through readiness, rescue support, and rehabilitation, and to build something that lasts. Milan Candles was created afterward, as a way to fund that fight without waiting on a grant cycle.

How it is funded

Milan Candles funds the mission.

Every candle supports the work. It is not charity, it is structure: a sustainable engine so the mission does not depend on any single donor or grant. The house was built to sustain the mission. Visit Milan Candles

The founder

Built with a builder's discipline.

Milan's Mission was founded by Luis Garcia, a combat veteran and serial entrepreneur. The discipline he learned in service and the drive he carries as a builder now go toward protecting the vulnerable. Like any parent, he wanted to build something strong enough to protect others and lasting enough to outlive him. This story is not about one person. It is about the people the mission exists to serve.

What we believe

Survivor dignity comes first.

Survivors are people, never stories to exploit. We protect privacy, seek consent, and refuse to use trauma for attention or fundraising. Restoration is possible when people are treated with dignity and given real, steady support.

The long view

Why long term infrastructure matters.

Rescue removes someone from danger. Rehabilitation helps them rebuild a life. That takes housing, care, education, work, and community over years, not days. Milan's Mission is built for that long arc, which is why Operation Haven, our planned compound, sits at the center of the vision.

Who builds it

Veterans are part of the mission.

We prioritize hiring military veterans across every part of the nonprofit. Their training and discipline strengthen the work, and steady, meaningful work helps us fight veteran homelessness at the same time. Protecting people is a calling many veterans already carry.
